    She's eleven years old!

It's VERY common for older dogs to lose their sight and their hearing. The only thing this means for you and BJ is a few adjustments to your daily lives. You will have to guide her to her food bowl, and to the outdoors, for example. You will need patience and understanding as she gets used to her new "life." She may get scared more easily and will want to be around you, but won't be able to find you. Maybe you could wear perfume on your ankles so she can still follow you around (I do this for my deaf cat who gets scared when I'm upstairs).

If you've lived in the same house for ages, she should be fine as long as you don't rearrange the furniture - dogs remember things just like people do.

If you're worried her deafness and/or blindness are symptomatic of something other than old age, take her to a vet and get her checked out.

    Good luck!
