Dogs and Menopause

My pomeranian dog acts like she gets hot flashes. She's 7 years old and will pant, roll her tongue back in her mouth, her head gets really hot, she shakes and acts very hot for approx. 15 minutes at a time. Do female dogs get menopause?

When dogs are spayed, the uterus and overies are removed, thus removing the hormones that would cause 'menopause'. I am not sure why she is doing this. I would definately recommend you calling your vet and discussing her symptoms with him/her.

    Hope she feels better soon.
