kitty litter

My cat is 5 months old. She uses the kitty litter for the most part, but sometimes urinates on pillows or beds. Despite this she will spend long periods inside the litter box digging and scraping. The litter is kept clean. The brand is the same.
Why does she do this and how do I stop her from doing it.

Sounds like your kitty has a urinary tract infection. When they start urinating on beds, pillows, etc and spending a lot of time in the litter box, these are usually signs of aUTI. Take her to your vet and have her urine checked.
