My 10 year old boxer has an oral cyst. It is not cancerous, but is invasive. They have recommended surgery to remove it and part of the bone. Is this necessary for a 10 year old dog? It will be very expensive because it has to be done by specialists.

Symptoms: Dental

Without examining your dog or seeing his medical records, I can't say if this surgery is absolutely necessary. I doubt your vet would recommend an invasive surgery if they didn't think it was in the best interest of your dog.

Call your vet and ask for more information, such as the pros and cons of surgery, and the pros and cons of doing nothing.
