my cat was meowing very loudly - like he was in pain - and when i got to him - it seemed like he wanted to throw up - but wasn't - and all his limbs went limp, he could not control them or stand up - i grabbed him thinking he was choking - but nothing - and a minute later he was wobbly, but able to walk again - very strange - any ideas???

It sounds very much like he had a seizure. As he's an older cat, it would be advisable to get this checked out. Some seizures are caused by epilepsy, but that would begin at a much younger age, so there's a chance that this is caused by something more serious. A blood test will help to determine what is going on. It would also help to know if he is otherwise well, is his appetite, drinking, toiletting and energy level as normal?

yes, his appetite, drinking, toiletting and energy - are all normal - could it be just an isolated incident? I will get him to the vet - in the process of moving - which may not be helping - thanks

It's unlikely to be a one off, but not impossible. Usually if they are well otherwise there is something brain-related going on, but there's no rush to get it investigated, it could be months until if/when another episode occurs, although equally it could be a more rapidly progressive problem. Good luck!
