I think my dog has got kennel cough. How do I know? What can I do for her

    If your dog hasa dry honking cough that is sudden onset in nature, it is almost certainly kennel cough. (Try pinching the trachea and it should trigger a cough. This confirms it is a tickly cough, not a chesty cough)

    You can give a small amount of cough syrup which is soothing, but it probably won't do much. If you do nothing, it will disappear by itself after 2 wks or so. If however you want rid of it quicker, you will need a trip to the vet to collect some antibiotics and possibly an anti-inflammatory injection to settle the tracheitis.
