My 12 year old fox hound has lost over 19 pounds in 3 weeks my vet ran test and found nothing. Now we are doing a byopcy of the prostate to check that any suggestions?

I am sorry to hear about Gus's problem. I would say that I would need to know what tests were done in order to further advise, but I am assuming that blood work, urinalysis and xrays were done, maybe even ultrasound? If so, it sounds like your vet is on the right track to finding out what is going on - best of luck!

yes all those test were done. We also did a ultrasound. Is there any reason a dog would lose that much weight? His blood work is fine, all the other test came back okay the ultasound didn't show that much the prostate was a little enlarged but he said that is not unusal for a dog his age. He is our baby I just don't want him to suffer and we can't seem to find out what is wrong any suggestions?

Unfortunately, due to his age, rapid weight loss, and normal test results, there is the possibility of some occult (hidden) cancer that could be causing this weight loss. You have ruled out most everything else with all of the tests you have had performed. Sometimes no matter what you do, you can't always get a diagnosis, which is extremely frustrating for us all. I am sorry that Gus is having this problem, and hope that maybe some diagnosis can be found with the prostate biopsy. My advice to you is to enjoy him every day, and if you feel he is suffering to make the right choice for him. All the best!
