Please take him to your vet tomorow. He may be having something called uveitis, which is inflammation of the inside of the eye. You will typically see a small pupil, phobia of light, redness of the white of the eye and keeping the eye closed. This can happen for a number of reasons such as ulceration of the cornea, cataracts, glaucoma, infection, immune systems problems. HAs he had any trauma to the eye that you know of? is there any discharge? and is the white of his eye red? In terms of what to do for it right now, there is really nothing except try and prevent him from rubbing the eye ( an E collar can be useful) and you may find that he is more comfortable in darker light conditions than bright light. He really needs to be assessed by your vet as soon as you can get an appointment so make sure they see him tomorow if possible.
