scaby patches that he itches and bites, not getting better. n see no fleas

our dog has scabby patched onvarious parts of his body that he keeps biting and scratching, is it serios? is there anything we could try to fix it before going to a vet?

  This could be caused by any number of reasons, including allergy, infection, mites, fungus. I would advise a visit to your vet to do some easy tests to determine the actual cause and treatment for Gordon's problem. Good luck!
