Baxter
Baxter

Baxter is on this medication and would it be a problem if he continues to take it. He is older and if it helps I don;t see a problem.

They should not stop pheno without being weaned off it. It's not that its addicting but you can get seizures restarting and they can be worse than before if you stop suddenly. I only recommend stopping if the patient has been seizure free for at least 1-2 years and even then we reduce very slowly. In terms of problems if he take it long term. I usually suggest that any patient on long term meds have blood profiles checked every 6 months to monitor how their body is dealing with it.

I forgot to add, that the benefits of this medication usually outweigh the side effects and risks of taking it.
