My dog has a loss of appetite lately and all his lymph nodes feel swollen. What might this be a sign of?

I'm sorry to hear he is feeling bad.  This could be a sign of several things.  Swollen lymph nodes could indicate a general infection.  Appetite would also be affected with a general infection.  Bloodwork to look at white blood cell counts would be helpful to determine this.  Also, swollen lymph nodes can also be a sign of lymphoma (cancer).  It's important to have a vet evaluate your dog to determine if this a possibility.  Your vet may want to aspirate the lymph nodes and look at the cells under a microscope to determine this.  An older dog is at greater risk and typically with lymphoma the lymph nodes swell very quickly and become very firm although they can present with several symptoms.
