Anal Problem

This past Friday we got home from work and our 10 month old beagle had crapped all over his cage and it was very runny and very smelly. Saturday and Sunday we kept him in the back yard rather than in the house so he could get the runs out of his system. I started noticing him straining and some blood. Today is now Tuesday and his poo has gotten a little thicker, but there is still blood and what looks to me like a hemroid. He scoots all over the yard now too. I dont know if he ate something that he cant pass, or if its anal sac problems (i read about that on line today) or if he just simply had the runs and gave himself hemroids? What do you think?

Hi, I am sorry to hear about your puppy, but it sounds like a pro-lapsed rectum. This is basically caused by straining to go potty. It also sounds like he may have some anal gland issue and/or intestinal parasites. You need to take him to the vet and should have done so at the first signs of bloody stool.

Please also know that to fix a pro-lapsed rectum does involve a surgical procedure.

The only other "thing" I can think that this could be (since I have not seen the hemroid) is a ruptered anal glad. Never the less, you need to take your dog to the vet and you should never ever "wait diarreah out" it will only get worse as will the veterinary bill.

I hope you take my advise seriously and I hopw your puppy gets better.
