Patch of bare red skin on front leg

We just noticed it this evening. What is it and how should we treat it? I just put a topical homeopathic herb gel on the area and covered it with gauze.

    There's a number of things that it could be, anything from and infection to an abrasion.  If at home treatments do not help with in a few days, you should see your vet.  You can clean it with hydrogen peroxide and apply Neosporin two-three times a day.
