    Hi

Often when dogs do this they are asking for a response from you for some reason. It may be to make sure they are doing the right thing or they do this because you respond back. This is similar to small children forever wanting your attention as soon as you take your attention away from them. The child might get your attention by being nice and presenting you with a pretend tea of tea. Or they will scream at you or do something naughty.

If you respond back either by becoming cross or just loving them back this often reinforces the behaviour and they keep on doing it, because they can get your attention away from other things. This may then lead to them to viewing you as a really important resource to be kept hold of and no one else can have you. This is when you might get problem behaviour. Therefore, just ignore it totally. Do not get cross and do not respond. You can call your dog to you whenever you like for a fuss and a cuddle but ask your dog to sit first before it gets anything nice. Just ignore these attention seeking behaviours in a calm and ignoring way (no eye contact either).

    Hope this helps.

Good Dog? Bad Dog? By Rosie Barclay. This book concentrates on changing the traditional views of how we perceive and treat our dogs using what we have learned from scientific research so far. It starts at the beginning by looking at ways of how to chose and bring up a new puppy that may reduce the likelihood of future problems. It then goes on to cover different problems that commonly occur between owners and their maturing or adult dogs by discussing real case studies. TO BUY VISIT www.rosiebarclay.com
