Kitty Concern

  • Mama Kitty

My 5 year old female cat is losing hair, losing weight, sagging under belly, having accidents in the house, and has started hiding herself under blankets. We do have a one year old and 6 year old and I have been concerned that she could be stressed but now I am wondering if it could be something even more serious. I'm worried.

Hi, I hope you are doing well. This does not sound liks stress to me! The symptoms you are describing are indicitive of several different medical conditions. You need to take her to a vet and have a total body function (lab work) done. The total body function checks for several different "things" including thyroid malfunction and urinary health. Cats are predisposed to thyroid malfuntions which can cause weightloss and alopecia, in addition to, renal/kidney failure which may explain the accidents. I hope I have been helpful and I wish you and your family good luck.
