Back in May of this year we suddenly lost our cat to what was later found to be a form of pancreatitis. Our cat's only symptoms were occassional vomiting. Other than that there was no cause for concern. Our other cat (the sibling of our other cat) is now vomiting occassionally too. What are the chances of this being the same condition? The other odd thing is that after almost ten year Gerber who never meowed, now meow at night all the time. He stops if you pet him. I have palpated his belly and he does not seem to be in any pain or have any masses. Our vet thinks this is meowing (the way it sounds) is a form of loss or grieving of his litter mate. What do you think?

GerberSymptoms: vomiting, behavioral -
Mark Nunez says:
Pancreatitis in cats is rare, so i doubt that this is the case with Gerber. Occasional vomiting is not neccessarily unusal and may not be associated with any disease. Is he eating and acting normal otherwise? Is he losing weight? Having one cat start to vocalize after another one passes is not unusual. It could be grief/mourning, but it could also be the fact that now he is "king of the castle", so to speak. The time that he does it is not unusual either. Cats are going to be most active at dusk and dawn. If you have strays in your area, he could be responding to them as they do their thing outside of your home.
