I am concerned over the way my male Pom has been walking. He fell coming in and going out of the house on the steps by the back door. He sems to walk ok at times, but other times, such as this morning, he was having difficulty walking in the yard. I notice that sometime his right leg will slip under him what can this be? I have left a message for his regular vet but since it is sunday, I have to wait.

If the problem is with one of his rear legs, it could be a problem with his knee cap.  It's called medial patellar luxation and is very common in the toy breeds.  The typical history is that they will be fine one minute and then non-weight bearing on one of their rear legs the next.   Then, usually before they can get to the vet, they are using the leg again like nothing was happened.  Sometimes things requires surgery, but most of the time it does not.
