My rabbit is losing large clumps of hair, what could be causing this. Charlie (the rabbit) is a five year old female.

    Hi

The first thing to rule out here is parasites. Mites can arrive in a contaminated batch of hay, sawdust etc and make the rabbit itchy, causing her to pull hair out. A simple course of weekly injections at the vet can resolve that. Fleas can be killed with a rabbit flea spot-on.

Your rabbit might alternatively have a hormonal problem, eg an ovarian cyst, causing her to lose hair. This can easily be resolved by neutering her, anyhow that is a good idea as she is less likely to develop uterine adenocarcinoma (cancer).
