My seven year old yorkie has started having periods of shaking. Sometimes he also vomits or has dry heaves. This mainly happens at night. Any clues?

Hi
How often is Reno vomiting? If it is once a week or less, this could be considered normal. Try 24hrs starvation followed by a bland diet (chicken and rice) for 3 days, if he continues to vomit then he will need a veterinary examination. Ultimately, you could very easily end up paying for a general anaesthetic and abdominal xrays/gastroscopy. Generally it isn't too serious if the dog is still eating.
The shaking is quite common in Yorkies, that will probably disappear when the vomiting stops, even if it doesn't it might just be breed related nervous shaking of no clinical significance.
