Runny Eyes and Excessive Scratching on Snout

  • Buster Benoit

Buster is a Bullmassive/Shepard Mix about 12 years old... Just recently he has been itching his eyes and snout excessivly. He has accumulated excessive eye discharge (sleepers/boogers) which I clean out usually every other day. His eyes are reddened around the crevice of his eyes as well as above his snout from the excessive scratching. I have bathed him with hartz shampoo (as I have always done) and ensured he had no fleas or ticks. What's wrong w/my Buster?

    Symptoms: itching & scratching, eyes

    Hi

It sounds like he may have bacterial conjunctivitis, an eye infection that needs treating with topical eye ointment 2x daily for a week.

Conjunctivitis is itchy so dogs will rub their eyes alot.
