Do your dog's ears also have a bad odor? Do you see any dark debris inside? Normal dog ears are pink and clean. If you see brown debris or what looks like pus, your dog probably has an infection. Cleaning his ears alone will not take care of the problem if that is the case. He will need medication so you should get him to a vet. If you don't, over time the blood vessels in his ears can break from him shaking his head, causing a painful build-up of blood and serum in his ear called a hematoma. Many times this needs to be surgically corrected, so it's important you have your dog seen and his ear problem diagnosed and treated properly.
