I have noticed recently that my 10yr old silky cross has been drinking alot of water and urinating more frequently. He also shivers even though it is quite warm. I am wondering if i should have him tested for diabetes?

Hi, there are a number of conditions that result in increased thirst (polydipsia) and increased urination (polyuria). One potential is diabetes, you are correct. Your vet will need to take blood tests and urine tests to identify the problem. Hope all goes well. David
