hi, this will be long, but i am scared. my pug has been fine until this friday. she came in heat around aug. 7, tried to keep her and male pug seperated. my son let them both out at the same time to go to take care of normal business when we got home. this was aug. 12 and i caught them. everything has been fine till now. first notice small clear wet spots on floor with a blood clot in them. four on one day, two the next day. she was still happy and full of energy. then noticed she was trembling, and then there was urine in blood. at first she dranked alot, now the only thing i can get her to drink is watered down milk with a egg in it.(i hope this safe) lost her appetite but then started getting it back. one minute she is hasseling, body feels hot,and then later on she will be shacking like she is cold. i noticed it was hard for her to get up. she acted stiffed. now one or all her legs will stiffen straight out or lift up in the air, she trembles, and it looks like her muscles are stiffening up. her last attack of this her whole body did it and then when she relaxed i thought she was dying. she seems so weak. one minute her heart rate has been somewhat high and she this last attack it seems slower than what it has been. i can't get her to a vet until monday. there seems to be no more blood in her urine the last few times i have checked. i am giving her water by a dropper to help keep her hydrated. her eyes look like she has cold in them , her nose is sometimes wet and then dry. please tell me what i can give her and do to help her. i am desperate!

If you are very concerned please use our find a vet tool : http://www.televets.com/directory/ to find a local vet that is open today.

She may well have an acute cystitis which is very common in young entire bitches and especially if she may have been mated. This will make her spasm and have hematuria (blood in the urine)

Its hard for me to comment further without examining her but I think for peace of mind and for her benefit get her seen today.

    hope that helps, David

Every day I see pets come into my clinic injured and unwell. Its always so upsetting knowing that treatment could be taken a lot further only if the owner had taken out pet insurance. You have health insurance, so should your pet... Dr Brooks
