how do you determine a real pregnancy from a false one?

    you will usually see signs about 2-3 months after her last heat ( you can even see it in spayed females!), and you will see signs very similar to a real pregnancy such as nesting, milk production, mammary development and abdominal distention. The best way to differentiate if its a false pregnancy is to use ultrasound or radiography to help.

    well at the moment shes fairly big and put weight on, her nipples have all changed colour and appearance, she is still eating well, shes passing wind alot. but im not sure when she would be due. She was more or less in season for the whole of november. hope you can help me.

    Did she mate at all? The best test to have done is an ultrasound but it may be expensive. An X-ray will let you know if there are any puppies after about 45 days gestation

    yeh she did mate with my other staff but we kept them apart but they both got out in the garden once the back end of nov. just some people say that it maybe false but wen shes laid down the side of her stomache thats touch the ground is rock hard and the side thats in the air is realy soft.

    pregnancy can last from about 56-69 days. So if you are past that window then it is unlikely to be a real pregnancy but your vet should be able to help you out with a diagnosis
