Provided he is bright and otherwise happy you can try resting his stomach by not giving any food for 12 - 16 hrs. He must have free access to water though during this period. If he seems unwell in himself and the vomiting doesnt abate then he should be seen by a vet

The dog might have eaten something that he was allergic too or perhaps he ate some rat poison or something. I'm assuming you're from the USA and I understand that you people have rabies there? Isn't foaming of the mouth a symptom of rabies? I'm not a vet. I'm just suggesting what might be wrong.

this site give a description of rabies symptoms in animals-->http://www.animalhealthchannel.com/rabies/symptoms.shtml but you would know if your dog had signs of rabies...Charlie's dog would have had to be bitten by some animal, i.e. raccoon usually...and it's not just a problem we have here in the US either, rabies can occur anywhere in the world really. rat poisoning? come on...seriously. Charlie, if your dog's vomiting has subsided, it is best to take your pet to his vet asap. Better to be safe than sorry. Especially after 2 hours of your dog vomiting.

sorry...i meant to say....if your pet's vomiting has NOT subsided...please take him to his vet. There could be several reasons for it, but don't leave it to chance for him to get better.

your dog could be regurgitating because he might have air in his throat which is very bad

My dog is throwing up white foam and i think its because there is something stuck in her throat. Your dog sounds like there might be something stuck in its throat. I suggest going to the vet, that would be the wise choice.

No need to be rude M. I'm just suggesting what have been wrong with the dog. I know rabies isn't just a problem in the US. There are other places where the disease is common but in Australia where I live we don't have rabies here. We don't have a lot of the diseases here hence the reason why our quarantine laws are so strict. Actually the dog could have picked up something poisonous somewhere. Dogs play around and sniff things so it's quite easy for them to pick up things by accident. My dog went blind a few months ago and the first thing the vet asked was "Has your dog been vomiting and has she perhaps eaten something poisonous by accident?" It could be something from the garden. Are you a qualified vet? Or are you studying to be one? If not your knowledge of what this dog had is just as good as mine is. A guess! So once again there was no need to be rude to me.

I don't think M ment to be rude to you Kim , but the bottom line is, when in doubt go to the vet. I by the way am not a vet either or trained. All I have is experience of the animals I have had all my life and dogs are one. However the vet is usually the best person to ask about anything you are unsure of. Hope it all goes ok.
