Kitten getting chunkie only in stomach.

Hello.... I just purchased a kitten on august 8 and have noticed her belly getting really big the last few weeks. She is only about 16 weeks old. She is not active like kittens usually are. She sleeps all day and doesn't really play. She is only fat in the belly and is too young for pregnancy and I have never let her out of the house. What could be wrong?

Hi, sorry for the delay, there are so many questions today!

The pot belly is probably the result of intestinal worms. She will need to have some worming pills from your vet. Dont use pet store wormers as they are not effective and can cause more problems than theyre worth.

    hope that helps, David

Every day I see pets come into my clinic injured and unwell. Its always so upsetting knowing that treatment could be taken a lot further only if the owner had taken out pet insurance. You have health insurance, so should your pet... Dr Brooks
