my dog is having thick slimmy mucous in her eyes she is also closing them alot and squinting appears very lethargic

Does she have any upper respiratory signs also? Coughing? sneezing?
It could be just a bacterial conjunctivitis which will require a trip to the vet for antibiotic ointment. Any problems with the eyes should be treated seriously and be seen by a vet.

Every day I see pets come into my clinic injured and unwell. Its always so upsetting knowing that treatment could be taken a lot further only if the owner had taken out pet insurance. You have health insurance, so should your pet... Dr Brooks
