Cat will not eat...vet doesn't know why...

When I adopted my 12 year old cat, he was obese. He has lost 4.5 lbs, and refuses to eat. There have been several changes in his life in the past six months: new owner and home, packing and moving to another new home. The vet that I took him to found a lump on his thyroid, but can not seem to find a reason why the cat will not eat. Any suggestions?

    Hi

Is your cat eating anything at all? If he doesn't eat anything for several days, and especially if he isn't frinking either, then he will be dehydrated and will need intravenous fluids. That amount of weight loss in a cat means there is something serious going on, and I would suggest full haematology and biochemistry blood tests to find out what. It is very unlikely to be behavioural.
