Vomiting

My little terrier mix has been vomiting every couple of days for about the past two weeks. This is highly unusual for her. She also has been having gas, which is unusual as well. The vomit is brownish, no identifiable food in it. We have not changed her food or treats. She is approximately 10 years and weighs 17 lbs. She is otherwise behaving normally.

Thank you,
Caryn Humphrey

Vomiting can have many causes. The most common reason that I usually see is from eating something they shouldn't have and causing a tummy upset. However there are a whole host of other possible reasons..... parasites, inflammation, food intolerances, pancreatitis, hormonal disorders, diet changes, obstruction, ulceration, bacterial imbalance in the intestinal tract and tumors are just to name but a few possibilities. The first step is usually trying to give the intestinal tract a rest by a bland diet eg chicken or turkey and rice or pasta as several small meals instead of her normal food. If this doesn't help or if it gets worse at any point, then she should get a check up by your vet. I hope she feels better soon
