HELP

Our 6 year old dog has recently started peeing and pooping in the floor. Last night we took him out and withing 10 minutes of being inside he pooped in the floor. Some people think this an attention thing. I have recently moved in with him and his owner, although I have been around him for almost 2 years and have spent lots of time there. Is this an attention thing or maybe just a bladder problem?

    Hi

It's always a good idea to ask your vet to take a look at him in case it is a medical condition.

If you get the all clear and this continues it would be a good idea to consult a recommended and qualified behaviourist as this might be due to your moving in. If it is an "attention thing" simply don't give him any when he does this. No eye contact, no nothing and calmly clear it up with biological washing powder. Do not tell him off as this is still giving him attention.

However, it may be an anxiety "thing" which will need looking into more closely.

Meanwhile, make sure he gets lots of appropriate attention when you both decide. If he asks for it just calmly look away and ignore him. Try and make your new lives as normal for him as possible and take over some of the care, feed, walk, play etc.

    Hope this helps
