Long Cut Tail, Dog Keeps Chewing

My dog, black mouth cur mix, is 5 years old and just cut her tail over the weekend. This happened once before , but some liquid bandaid stopped the bleeding and she didn't bother with it. I tried the same thing this time but she chewed it off. Then I tried to put a wrap on it with some anti chew spray. She pulled if off as soon as I left the house. I bought a cone, but some how she is still able to get it off (long tail). Yesterday I bought a musle for her to put on when I leave for short periods of time just so she doesnt make it worse. I don't know what to do. I called my vet and they would give her a shot, but that isn't going to stop the chewing so it can heal. Do you have any suggestions for me? Is it too late to get her tail chopped?

    Hi

You may have to accept her wearing a muzzle for at least 10 days whenever she is not eating/drinking, to stop her biting the tail and allowing it to heal. If she then starts biting it again once it has healed, she will need to have it amputated, leaving a very short tail that she cannot reach to chew.

    Good luck!
