    Hi

This is a concern, gastroenteritis is still the most likely cause so keep giving the antibiotics. It may be something that is resistant to the antibiotic your sister was given though so if the dog is not responding to the medication then it needs to be taken back to the vet, possibly to try a different antibiotic.

The dehydration is also worrying, so you should syringe plenty of water into the dogs mouth at the very least. If you can, use electrolyte solution instead of water (eg dioralyte sachets intended for humans, available at most pharmacies). This is a short term measure though, you need to take the dog to a vet really. Intravenous fluids would be far more effective.

    Good luck

Unfortuantely in small dogs this type of gastroenteritis (hemorrhagic gastroenteritis) can be deadly.

They dehydrate quickly and usually require hospitalization and IV fluid therapy as well as antibiotics.

I hope your sweetheart turns around quickly.
