My boyfriends mother's cat got in freezer yesterday about noon and she found it in there about 2 hours ago (in freezer about 22 hours), it is still meowing but not moving other than it's front left leg is twitching. Is there anything we can do for it? Or should we have it put to sleep?

Every day I see pets come into my clinic injured and unwell. Its always so upsetting knowing that treatment could be taken a lot further only if the owner had taken out pet insurance. You have health insurance, so should your pet... Dr Brooks

Anyone with any intelligence would have taken the animal to a vet immediately and not write into a website!!!! You need reporting to the RSPCA!

Well, I'd say to either keep him close to a fireplace or something really warm and cozy. give him warm milk rub him or something. If he doesn't react, rush him to the closest vet available. He's so cute I wish you guys good luck!

At first glance, I thought, is that question a joke?! My initial response is: For you any human to go hang out in a freezer for 22 hours and come out and then tell us what you are experiencing and are you in pain. I can guarantee that if it were you, you would seek immediate help. It is your boyfriends mothers cat, right? How in the world did that kitty get into that freezer without being noticed? I am livid thinking about what the kitty had to go through, it upsets me greatly!!!

I am always suspiscious of anyone who refers to his/her pet as "it". What underlies this attitude explains this whole tragedy.

If you knew about what time the cat got in the freezer then you must have seen the cat get into the freezer...why didn't you take it out then?

it isnt her cat so stop havin a go! you dont know anything about her boyfriends mother either so stop being judgemental! people use this site for advice NOT for you idiots to make them feel bad especially when they are probably already feeling aweful themselves. and in answer to how they knew it was what time, i know i remember times in the day i do things even if everythin is different from day-to-day AND usually u go to the freeze to get things out i.e. it could have been lunch and tea time! as for 'it', the cat isnt the woman who wrote this and you may have been affected because of someting from your life... leave people alone and let the experts answer!!!

I had 2 kittens that was frozen in the bottom of an old junk care from it being to cold. Heard them meowing and rescued them. I wrapped them in a towl and put them over a heater vent for 5 or 6 hours it took them awhile to come out of it but they finalle came around. The were so frozen the couldn't move. But now they are grown and full of life> Hope your kitty is ok.

i had a crazy neighboor cat that had d kiddies on d service bathroom outside d home, since it was safe from d dogs we left her have d kiddies there, however we made a mistake we left d toilet lid open, as kiddies got bigger one kiddie felt there i found him when he was crying he was cold as a piece of ice, barely meowing, i held him against my bare chest cuz i know u cant warm up an animal or human all of d sudden that includes animals, so about 30 mins later he started meowing stronger ,later i got a botle of hot water wrapped in a towel and had him there for some time, kiddie turned out ok sad part is that her b,,, cat mother i guess smelled his kiddie w unfamiliar odors and took all 3 kiddies somewhere else, but heck kiddie survived.

Definately bring it to the vet. As the person said above, the sites for advice, not flaming. Its very easy for pets to get into almost everywhere and many a times know the times. As for the above, how many times have you seen a couple, one in the fridge, takes somethig out, other just closes the door walking by. Only takes a moment. Years ago I read in a paper about a cat in a dryer who slipped in to get warm while the owner went to get more cloths from the washer. Sad ending, but one ex gilfriend had her father close his safe for several hours then luckily found the pet in time. Both now the wiser.I seriously doubt someone who intentionally hurts an animal would bother to post on a help site..

This is kind of ironic. My husband and I just moved to the Mojave desert from Alaska and all of our fuzzies were absolutely dying from the heat the first day we were in our new apartment. Our electric had just been turned on, and our swamp cooler was broken. So since our freezer was just a little chilly (hadn't been on long enough to get truly cold) I opened up the door and encouraged them all to go have a few minutes break from the sweltering heat. I didn't close the door on them or anything, just let them bask in the cool air for a few moments. Our puppy tried to sit down and didn't want to get out though... I'm just saying. Pets can end up in freezers for all sorts of reasons. I never would have forgotten putting any of my animals in there, or even shut the door on them for that matter... but then again, my pets are my children so they are never an afterthought for me.
