What are the causes of excessive panting in the winter for a Sheltie?

    Hi.Panting is generally a mechanism for heat regulation rather than something always specific to breathing itself. If Buster's panting is not due to simply a hotter environment than he's accustomed to, it may be his body temperature- ie he as a fever.It can also be a behavioural sign of agitation. Hope this helps you to work out what is going on.
