I just adopted a 1 1/2 year old black tabby. He ha one eye that appears to be solid black. What could cause this?

Just to make sure I understand, the eye is completely black? The skin is completely black? or the fur is completely black? It would help if you could attach a picture of your boy or find an example on the internet.
