I have a 4 year old Jack Russell Terrier male. I've had him to the vet for this problem and it's not getting any better I hope you can help. He's always looking at his feet and legs like there are something on them and he chews on his feet all the time. When he lays down if you cover him up and he gets warm he goes to sleep but if you don't he'll jump up and take off running like something bit him. He doesn't have flea's or worms. He cry's alot with this. It's getting worse. What do you thank it is and what can I do for it. He's my baby chico and my sister calls him bubba. Please help.
Thanks Missy email missyann@vci.net

My first concern would be an allergy when you mention him chewing on his feet. If this has been ruled out, what you might be dealing with is an anxiety issue. He may benefit from being placed on a low dose of an anxiety medication to help him relax. Some pets can eventually be weaned off of them, some will require being on these medications for quite some time. Without knowing what you've tried with your baby, I cannot be sure where to direct you from here but anxiety medications would be the next step I would recommend if you've already explored the idea of him having an allergy that would make his body sensitive, have him on a good flea/tick preventative to be certain that this is not a problem related to dermal parasites, etc.

    Good luck!
