peeing in the house w/ a doggy door installed

We recently moved to a new house and my dog is now peeing and pooping in the front room when we have a doggy door. She knows how to use one because my parents have one in their house for their dog. She does it when we aren't home or are asleep. I don't know what to do about it.

    Hi

If you have recently moved house CoCo may be feeling a little stressed and this may be why she has begun to do this. She may also be increasing her smell around your new house to make her feel more at home. Don't get cross, just clear it all up calmly with biological washing powder and place some of her urine/poop in the areas where you do want her to do. In other words familiarise her with the back garden. This should settle once she becomes more used to her new surroundings.

It may also help if you rub an old towel over her and then dust your new house with her smell. Dogs live in a world of scent and this may help to familiarise her and to settle her in.

However, if after a few weeks she is still doing this it would be wise to contact a qualified animal behaviourist recommended by your vet to help you further.

    Hope this helps

    Best wishes
