Throwing up everything

My boston terrier has been sick for a little over 24 hours. She has thrown up everything she has eaten and drank. What can I do to make her feel any better? She does seem a little better today than she did yesterday though.

    1) How old is she?

    2) Tell me when the last time she was vaccinated and what she was vaccinated against. If she is younger than 1 year, I need to know her entire vaccine history.

    3) Does she have access to table scraps or human food?

    4) Has she consumed, torn up or has anything suspiciously "gone missing" over the last week?

    5) Does she have toys? Chew toys? Treats? Anything that she plays with unsupervised?

I'll work on a reply for you as soon as I have this information, thank you!

She is almost 6. She hasn't been to the vet in over a year but she did get her rabies shot last year. I have not fed her any table scraps in a long time. Only dry dog food. Nothing that I can see has gone missing, and I don't think that she has consumed anything she shouldn't She has a few toys that her and the other dogs play with, but none of them are new to where she would chew them up. She has done this before, a few years ago, and has always been one to throw up when she gets excited. I have already talked to the vet about that and they said it is normal with bostons and small dogs.  But this is not normal, it is like she has the flu or something. She won't eat anything that I put in front of her. She is drinking though and it seems as though she is finally holding that down. I just wish she would eat. Should I just see how she is feeling tomorrow and then take her to the vet? I am just a worried mom. That is all. By the way, what is the normal temperature of a dog suppose to be?

A normal temperature for most dogs is between 99.5 and 102.4 degrees. We consider 102.5 to be elevated and 103 to be a fever. Anything above that should be considered concerning and a vet should see your pet.

There are lots of things that can cause general stomach upset in pets. Sometimes they vacuum the floor for us and eat a piece of food that wasn't meant for them, sometimes they can acquire intestinal parasites and protozoan from the environment, sometimes there are underlying issues, etc. If she is holding down water, then you can keep her at home and monitor her. If she continues to vomit (regardless of what she's producing), she needs to be seen in the AM by your vet. Food can wait for a little while longer. Hydration is key right now to her health, not so much the food. Most pets that are holding water down will be able to hold their food down 12-24 hours after they have stopped vomiting and they usually acquire an appetite of their own. If she does not vomit tomorrow and does not start eating within 24 hours of her vomiting stopping, a visit to the vet would be recommended. Most owners think, "I'll entice her to eat with a little bit of what I'm eating". This is probably the worst thing we can do as owners because it can upset their stomach even more. Give her time to keep the water down and offer her the normal food that she eats tomorrow given she doesn't vomit.

    Thanks and good luck!

Thank you. She is keeping down the water at this point.  She wasn't last night. She is just keeping to herself right now. Curling up under my bed. I have put some water and a little bit of food in the room with her to see if she will eat. You have been very helpful. Thank you again.
