Maltese eyes

I just got an 8 wk old Maltese puppy and her eyes don't appear to be centered. They are not the little black dots you normally see. When you look at her, her eyes have white on the inner corners as if she is looking out to either side. Is this normal? Will it correct itself as she gets older?

Every day I see pets come into my clinic injured and unwell. Its always so upsetting knowing that treatment could be taken a lot further only if the owner had taken out pet insurance. You have health insurance, so should your pet... Dr Brooks

yes, they do seem to be slightly rotated outwards dont they. I will have a check online to see if this is related to malteses right now for you as Im not too sure whether this is normal or not. Will get back to you on this...

Found some info. It could be something called lateral strabismus which is breed associated but I still think it might want checking as this is not seen always and can occur under other circumstances (hydrocephalus and others). So I would say get her checked by your vet tomorrow
