You could possibly have him castrated a little earlier. It will depend on your vet as to what age they prefer to do the surgery. A lot of clinics still recommend 6 mnths although earlier castration is possible from 2 months (USA)
The only behavioral changes you will see after castration are due to the loss of male hormones. Playing, friendliness, and socialization will not be changed. You should see a reduction in roaming, aggressive behavior against other dogs, urine marking and inappropriate mounting.
