My dogs toenail has become totally detached from the quick and he keeps licking it. Will it heal itself or does he need treatment?

Hi, this will be quite painful for your dog, and if left it could lead to a nasty nail infection. He may need to have the remaining nail taken off, and bandaged for a couple of days. Salt water bathing of the foot will help prevent any infections. hope he is better soon.
