I had a pair of guinea pigs but one has recently passed away (at 7 1/2 years old) i am left with a 1 year old female. She seems ok a little quieter than normal but eating and drinking fine. I would like to introduce her to a new pig but how is the best way to do this?

Hi, sorry to hear about your other guinea pig, that was a very impressive age,so you must be looking after them well. You should be able to introduce another Pig quite easily. Firstly i would house them seperatly but close enough that they can see each other, then each day let them play together preferably out of their cage, then you can see how they get on. if you think that they seem happy with each other start putting them in the cage together again supervised for a little while, if no fights occur then you could consider housing them together. Would be adviseable to completely clean out the cage before putting them in together to prevent, territory disputes. Hope all goes well. Selena

I have recently got a 6 week old female guinea pig as company for pudding.Pudding seems interested in the little pig and will lie with her at times then other times she nips her and chases her around the cage. I am keeping them in seperate cages at the moment but have them next to each other, and when i am with them i put them both in the main cage. Why is pudding nice one minute then nipping and chasing the next?
