Guinea pig diarrhoea advice

my guinea pig (7 years old) had diareoha for 2 days then she started wheezing and heaving last night and spitting up.what could it be?

    Hi. The symptoms you describe are quite non-specific. The breathing difficulties could be a sign of an infection, as could the diarrhoea. Both of these though, could be secondary to an underlying illness, especially as she is quite elderly. She may also have dental disease. Is she eating? I would recommend that you get a vet to examine her if possible to determine what is causing the problems.

    Unfortunatley she has now passed away, i am left with a 1 year old female now, how is best to introduce her to a new companion?

    Sorry to hear about Pudding's death. You should be able to successfully introduce a new companion by putting them in adjacent pens where they can interact, and then together supervised at first. Usually everything would go fine, but if not get back in touch and we can solve any problems if they occur. Good luck.

    Thank you, i am on the look out for the perfect companion for pudding. It was precious that passed away.I will let you know how i get on. For now though with pudding being on her own is there anything i should do for her?

    Sorry, from the title i thought it was Pudding who was ill. She should be fine for the time being. There's nothing special you can do, but extra handling will help her in not feeling isolated.

    Thank you for your advice, i will keep you posted, hopefully finding a friend for her over the weekend, i have contacted rescue centres to see if any g.pigs are available for rehoming. will see how that goes.
