My 5 year old male cat has recently lost a lot of weight. At first it was gradual and seemed like a blessing as he was overweight. He seemed extremely playful, even more energetic than before. It seemed like nothing to worry about. It wasnt until just recently I started to believe him to be ill. Here are his symptoms: Weight loss, increased appetite to now no appetite, weaker and weaker especially in his back legs. I believe it to be diabetes but I dont know and I need help. He hasnt been to the vet since he was neutered about 2 years ago. We are taking him tomorrow but is there anything I can do right now to help? He wont eat but just keeps drinking which is upsetting his stomach. Please help...even if I can make him more comfortable. I am very worried. thank you - Michelle

Your vet will go over the diagnosis, treatment and future requirements about diabetes I'm sure when you see him/her. Increased water intake, sudden weight loss and increased/inappetience are all signs or diabetes but, bloodwork will help narrow or even pin point a reason for his symptoms. I wish you the best and sorry for the late response, I too have been having issues with my four legged children. I hope I helped.
