Weight loss has many causes. As Holly is elderly and the weight loss is significant, you would have to suspect a chronic illness. What is her appetite like, and have her patterns of drinking, excercise and toiletting changed? Are there any other symptoms?

Holly's appetite is good, she loves to eat ....she seems to be thirsty a bit more at times. As fas as exercise goes, I work so she has to be outside most of the time when I am gone but comes in when I am at home. She does not like being outside so I have observed, on occassion, that she paces quite a bit when she is home alone ... As far as toilette goes, her stools were black for about a week but seem to be back to normal color today. She is so think now that I can see the bones in her tail and that really frightens me ... Thank you for your help!

Hi, i agree it is worrying that she is losing so much weight despite eating well. I would definitely recommend you get her blood tested and examined by a vet. I would be thinking of intestinal, liver or kidney disease, but these are not exclusive possibilities by any means. Don't panic, because it sounds as though she is well in her self, but do get her checked up as soon as you can. Good luck!
