yesterday my dog was unable to stand on his legs. his back legs collapsed under him and he had to be carried outside and to his bed. this morning he was still unable to stand. this afternoon he was better and now he is fine. what could have happened

Hi there
This is difficult to say, collapse could be caused by a stroke, neurological problems (spine usually), anemia, dehydration, damage to internal organs, etc. If this happens again, please bring him to the vets straight away.
