    Hi

It is very difficult for a dog to see the difference between their toys and children’s toys as they often look the same, small, squeaky, soft and chewable. You have to begin to teach your dog which toys are his and which toys are the children’s. If he picks up the wrong toy, ask for it back and say "no" firmly but give him a toy he can chew. If you just get cross with him he may begin to get frustrated and confused. Perhaps keep the toys totally separate and make sure the children’s toys are kept in this area. You might have an easily demarked area for kid’s toys and another for dog’s toys so it becomes much easier for your dog to understand the difference.

It is also important that your dog does not learn that having children and toys around are bad things since he keeps getting told off. Make it a fun experience, the children have fun things to do and the dog has his fun things to do.

If you feel your dog is becoming a little jealous or feeling anxious around children It would be a wise decisions to seek the advice form a qualified dog behaviourist. Your vet should be able to recommend one.

    Hope this helps
