Lethargy can be the first symptom of an illness, injury or infection. There are a lot of diseases and ailment that can be link to lethargy. It can be due to health problem or a behavioral issue. It will take a lot of physical and laboratory examination to pinpoint a particular ailment related to lethargy alone. That is why other symptoms are to be consider. For now, observe your dog for other signs. Lethargy with diarrhea and vomiting is a sure sign you need to visit your vet as soon as possible. Take care and good luck.
