what causes abcesses on dogs?

    Hi there, sorry for the delayed answer.

    Abscesses are encapsulated, localised bacterial infections. This causes pus to build up, and if left untreated, they may burst. They can occur anywhere in the body, but are common in the skin. There is always an underlying cause, most common being foreign bodies (thorns, grass seeds) or injuries (bites, scratches). Abscesses can also occur in bones, teeth, internal organs, muscles and other soft tissues.
