my schnauzer

my dog accidently got pregnant with a weinee dog..her time is almost here, are there any health risks I need to be aware of during deliverly?..I'm aware that the weinee dogs have rather broad heads, and I want to be alerted to any possible problems.thank-you very much for your time

    I am sorry for the late response to your question. It is important that you take your dog to the vet before she gives birth for an examination to determine the number of pups, size and shape of the pups. An x-ray is needed so that the vet can access if the pups can pass through the birth canal. If you see the following signs before and during labor take your dog to the vet if your dog's body temperature drops below 100*F and fails to go to labor after 24 hours, continuous strong contractions for over an hour and not producing a pup, interval of more that 4 hours and expecting more puppies to come, and vaginal discharge with bad odor.
